Booking Terms

General

In the following terms and conditions set out by Freedom  Adventure Ltd , Trading as Freedom Surf School 'you' refers to the person making the booking or the Party / Group Leader / Teacher / Parent / Guardian and 'we', 'our' or 'us' or 'the surf school' refers to Freedom Surf School. The term 'Freedom surf & adventure activity ‘ or the term ‘activity,’ covers all activities / experiences offered by Freedom Surf School: group & private surf lessons, bodyboarding lessons ,surf camps, surf equipment hire, eco Hikes & workshops, Irish language activities, team challenges, historical hikes, eco & faith based talks walks and activities. 

By visiting our website and purchasing a product from us, you engage in our 'service' and agree to be bound by the following conditions. Please read these terms carefully.

1.1 Booking a Freedom Surf School Activity 

When you book a online via our website or a booking is confirmed by us either verbally, in writing, via email or on the phone a contract is made between you, the party leader, and Freedom Surf School

When booking over the phone the contract is a verbal contract. In the case of late telephone bookings and/or walk-in bookings when written or e-mail confirmation is not possible then the agreement is also verbal contract.

When you make a confirmed booking with us this implies you have read and agree with the terms and conditions set out below. Exceptions to these terms and conditions cannot be made for any reason.

The person making the booking accepts responsibility for payment by everyone on the booking for their surf lesson. It is their responsibility to ensure that all other persons on the booking read the terms and conditions below and that they are aware of the booking details (times, dates et cetera).

All participants must complete a activity sign in sheet before they will be allowed to take part in any 'Freedom surf & adventure activity
We do  not accept any liability caused through failure to complete the surf sign in sheet. All participants must make us aware of any medical conditions, illnesses (for example, asthma, epilepsy), disability, any phobia, allergies or medication you are taking or any injuries you have sustained prior to each activity.



Parents or guardians must sign for surf lesson participants who are under 18years of age. Where applicable, in certain groups a group leader/guardian / teacher can sign for a minor participant. For example, a school teacher can sign on behalf of a group from that school, a Scout Leader can sign on behalf of a group from that Scouting Organisation et cetera.

We do not accept any responsibility for a leader/guardian who has failed to get participation forms signed for their group.

1.2 Payment Policy

The person who makes a group booking is the party leader and is responsibility for payment for everyone listed on the booking. The party leader is responsible for ensuring that all other persons listed in the booking are aware of the terms and conditions.

To fully secure a booking, full payment can be made at the time of booking using our online payment system using a credit/debit card. If preferred, payment by PayPal, cheque or bank transfer is also possible. Otherwise, without putting a deposit on your  ‘Freedom surf & adventure activity ‘ they will be  booked on a first come first activity basis. Freedom surf school reserves the right to cancel a person's place if full payment is not received prior to the activity.

1.3 Prices

All activity prices are subject to change without advance notice, however, once you have made your booking and paid for your activity the price will not normally be subject to any changes

1.4 Gift Vouchers

Freedom Surf School,  gift vouchers are valid for five years from the date of issue and must be used within this time to be valid. Once gift vouchers have been purchased no refund will be offered. However, gift vouchers are transferable to other people if the original recipient if unable to participate in the activity .

1.5 Deposits on Group Bookings

In addition to making full payment for your activity upon confirming booking, you can also secure your booking for your group by making a deposit.
Groups larger than 6 pax require a €60 deposit

Groups larger than 10 pax require a €100 deposit

Groups larger than 14 pax require a €140 deposit

Groups larger than 20 pax require a €200 deposit


Deposits are non-refundable. Placing a deposit on surf lesson means you are making a legally binding contract to purchase the surf lesson. If you change your mind you have broken the contract and forfeited your deposit.

1.6 Seasons

Our peak season means the months June, July and August. Off peak season means the months of April, May, September, October. Winter season means the months November, December, January, February, March.

1.7 Changing your Booking

We will make every effort to arrange any changes requested after the booking has been confirmed. All changes are subject to the date of the activity, the availability of the activity  on the date of the original activity booking, the availability on the preferred date, the tides and surf & weather conditions on the preferred date/time and the availability of instructors.


Any cancellations or amendments to your booking must be made via email to us and will only be accepted from the date they are received by us.


If the group number increases from the original booking number, every effort will be made to accommodate the new group number, however, the date/time of the activity,  the availability and demand for the activity on the date and the availability of instructor(s) will be the deciding factor. At times, it may be necessary to split a group in two and run back to back sessions according to group size, tide/weather/surf conditions, instructor availability et cetera.


In the case where your group size drops in numbers from the original booking, we must receive notification of this in due time in writing or via email.



During peak season (July and August), if the changes to your booking are made less than seven days prior to the start date of the activity no refund will be given and you will be responsible for paying the balance on the original booking.



In off-peak season (April, May, September and October), if the changes to your booking are made less than 48 hours prior to the start date of the activity no refund will be given and you will be responsible for paying the balance on the original booking.


In winter season (November through March), if the changes to your booking are made less than 24 hours prior to the start date of the activity no refund will be given and you will be responsible for paying the balance on the original booking.



The Freedom Surf School management has the final say in all questions of activity availability, activity group size, the time and date of the activity and any requested changed to the number of people booked on a particular activity.

In exceptional and extenuating circumstances we may waiver the above. i.e. In cases of bereavements, serious illness.

2 Refunds and Cancellation Charges

2.1 General

No refund will be offered due to rain on the day of an activity. No refund will be offered to any participant who wants to stop the activity before the maximum time of the activity.

2.2 Refund Due to Customer Cancellations

Refunds due to customer cancellations during peak season are as follows:

If you notify us of your cancellation in writing via email at least two weeks prior to the date of the activity you are entitled to a full refund.

If you notify us of your cancellation in writing via email less than two weeks prior to the date of the activity we reserve the right to impose cancellation charges up to 50% of the original price of the activity 


If you notify us of your cancellation in writing via email less than one week prior to the date of the activity we reserve the right to impose cancellation charges up to 100% of the original price of the activity. 


If you cancel your surf lesson less than 48 hours before the date of your activity no refund will be given.

Refunds due to customer cancellations during off-peak season are as follows:

If you notify us of your cancellation in writing via email one week prior to the date of the activity we reserve the right to impose cancellation charges up to 50% of the original price of the surf lesson.

If you cancel your activity less than one week before the date of your activity we reserve the right to impose cancellation charges up to 100% of the original price of the activity

Refunds due to customer cancellations during winter season are as follows:

If you notify us in writing via email one week prior to the date of the  activity you are entitled to a full refund.
If you cancel your activity less than one week before the date of your activity we reserve the right to impose cancellation charges up to 50% of the original price of the activity.

If you notify us of your cancellation less that 24 before the date of the activity we reserve the right to impose cancellation charges up to 100% of the original price of the activity.

2.3 Medical Disclosures

If a customer advises the instructor/ guide prior to the activity of a medical condition, injury or disability such that the instructor decides that it would be unsafe for the customer to participate in the activity a full refund will be offered. If the instructor becomes aware of a customer's medical condition after the activity has commenced, such that the instructor determines it is unsafe for the customer to continue in the activity, no refund will be offered.

If a participant has a medical condition and wishes to partake in an activity they must provide a doctors letter stating that  doctor is confirming that the participant can safely take part in the activity.

2.4 Behaviour

No refund is offered in the case of an instructor/ guide deciding a customer or customers cannot participate in the activity because a customer or customers refuses to comply with our surf school policies or who refuse to comply with the instructions of the  instructor / guide or any Freedom Surf School staff. If your  instructor refuses a place on the activity from a member or members of a group booking who they have reason to believe are under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs or in any other way incapacitated, these customers will not be entitled to a refund.

Code of conduct – for Activities

1. All participants must fill out a registration form.

2. If under 18 a parent must complete form

3. All Participants must be able to swim for water activities

4. Parents of juniors are expected to be present to help with equipment if necessary.

5. All participants must be able to put wet suit and accessories on properly

6. A family room is available for parents who need to help juniors with putting on wetsuits

7. Participants are required to adhere to safety procedures as explained during lesson

8. Wetsuits remain on when participant is showering.

9. Wetsuits taken off in the changing rooms.- returned to staff when leaving changing area

10. The Staff are not responsible for students not participating in provided activities and are the responsibility of the teacher’s/supervisors/ Parents.

11. Groups/Individuals are expected to arrive at scheduled time, and be collected by supervisor/parent/guardian or bus at scheduled finishing time

12. If groups/individual is going to be late it is requested they call the Centre to inform us of expected new arrival time. Activities may have to be altered for late arrivals and will still finish at scheduled time. No refunds will be given.

13. Freedom Surf School is not responsible for any item damaged, lost or stolen.

14. We request that all participants adhere to a strict code of conduct.

15. Any individual found to be bullying, using foul language, stealing or behaving in a manner that is disruptive to the group will be requested to leave the activity. Parent or supervisor will be contacted. Activities not participated in are non-refundable.

16. We reserve the right to change an activity if unsuitable conditions arise. An alternative activity will be provided.

2.5 Refunds Due to Cancellation by Freedom Surf School 

In the rare event that Freedom Surf School decides that sea, surf or weather conditions are unsafe prior to your activity or for any other unforeseen circumstances, we reserve the right to cancel or postpone an activity, even at short notice. If your activity is cancelled by us before the start date we can offer you a full refund or a credit note to the value of your original activity so that you can re-schedule your activity for another suitable date and time.

In relation to school group days out an alternative activity will be provided on the day.


Credit for any  activity owed can be used within two years from the date of the cancellation. Any activity owed must be booked in advance and are subject to availability.


If sea, surf or weather conditions change drastically or become unsafe during the activity, your activity may be cancelled by your  instructor at short notice. Your instructor may modify the activity and undertake activities on the shore rather than in the water, or the activity may be postponed or rescheduled for another date or a full refund will be issued.


Safety is always our number one priority and your surf instructor and/or the  management will have the final say in all matter.

2.6 Surf/Weather Conditions

Freedom surf school monitors the weather forecast closely upon booking an activity and in the days leading up to the activity.   Forecasts are not always accurate and a situation could arise where the conditions are deemed unsuitable or unsafe by us on the day of your activity despite what the forecast predicts. If the waves are too big, the wind is too strong or the tides are unsuitable your activity may be postponed or cancelled at short notice.


In rare unforeseen circumstances when the conditions are deemed unsafe by us prior to your activity you will be entitled to a full refund.


Sometimes, even when conditions are deemed safe to proceed with an activity conditions can change rapidly such that your  instructor / guide  decides to cancel the activity and return to the surf school. For example, changing wind, swell, tide or unsafe sea conditions due to marine life or other hazards such as debris or pollution.


In these situations, it is not our policy to offer full refunds, however, depending on the situation and how long the activity was running before cancellation, we may offer a full or partial refund or offer to reschedule your activity at your convenience.

2.7 Activity Sign In/Participation Form

Our Freedom Surf School activities of carry a degree of risk to both people and property, even if enjoyed under proper supervision by qualified instructors and experts. All participants in the activities must sign a sign in sheet before taking part in the activity No sign, no activity.


It is the responsibility of the individuals themselves and/or group leaders, parents, guardians or teachers to sign in on the sign in form. 

Parents / guardians sign in for juniors under 18years.

Teachers or group leaders sign in on behalf of all their group.

All activity participants are responsible for ensuring that they are physically fit and able to participate and in good general health before, during and after the activity. People should not participate in any activity if they are suffering from a heart condition or if they are pregnant.


The activity sign in sheet is a standard waiver form. It is a release of liability and assumption of risk agreement. It states that you declare yourself or any minor participant to be physically and mentally sound and healthy.


You should listen carefully to your instructor's advice at all times. You must understand that it is your own responsibility to take care of your own safety in so far as is reasonable.


Freedom Surf School and its instructors and staff will take all possible care of customers but will not be held liable for any injury or damage to property or person that they or their child/minor participant may incur while undertaking an activity with this surf school. There are risks involved with going in the ocean and outdoor activities attempting surfing such as collision with board, collision with other water users, collisions with other surf instructors and/or the seafloor, rocks or hazards, contact with marine life (seals, weaverfish et cetera) including the risk of illness or death.


Signing the form means you understanding of the foregoing risks and agree not to sue and to release from all liability and to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Freedom Surf School and it instructors / guides and staff for any damage or injury arising out of the  activities regardless of the cause.


Signing an activity sign in form implies that permission is given for a participant's contact details to be entered on our data base. Your information is held in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1988 and this information will not be shared with any third parties.

2.8 Punctuality on Arrival

All participants are advised to arrive at least 15 minutes before start time.
If you arrive late for your activity, you may not be able to join the lesson. If you are late and it is possible to still take part in the lesson then it will be for the remaining time only and you will not receive a refund in these circumstances.


The activity will start without you if you arrive more than 15 minutes late and you risk missing the lesson completely. If a customer or client arrives for their activity after the stated time, we reserve the right to start the surf lesson without this individual or group without issuing a refund.


We will always try hard to accommodate customers in extenuating circumstance (i.e. vehicle problems, traffic jams, parking issues) but we need to consider the needs of other surfers, who do not wish to be kept waiting.


If you have paid for your surf lesson in full and you are too late for your activity we will offer you credit on your surf lesson to reschedule the activity at the earliest possible convenience.


If you have paid a deposit on your surf lesson and you arrive too late for your surf lesson you will lose your deposit as deposits are non-refundable.

3 Privacy Policy

3.1 General

Your personal information will not be shared with any third party and we will respect your privacy under standard GDPR procedure.

3.2 Usage of Video and Photos

Freedom Surf School may take photographs and/or videos of the activity. By booking an activity with us and agreeing to our terms and conditions, you agree images can be used by Freedom Surf School for strictly promotional purposes.

3.3 Sign in sheets

The information on surf sign in sheets are kept securely on record by Freedom Surf School. By signing our activity sign in sheets you agree to receive communication in the form of a newsletter.



Your email address is added to our newsletter mailing list with our partners Groupmail. We issue a newsletter 3-4 times per year with updates and special offer. We would love to keep in touch with all our customer at home and abroad.



Our newsletter has a simple one click opt out function if you supply your email address but do not wish to receive our newsletter.



Please note that data transmission over the internet may have security vulnerabilities and for this reason complete protection of the data from access by third parties is not possible. This site uses SSL encryption for security reasons and to protect the transmission of sensitive content, such as the requests you send to us as the site operator. The internet pages partly use cookies to make our offer more user-friendly, effective and secure. Cookies are small text files that are stored by your browser.

4 Important Information

4.1 General

Our activities and associated activities such as travelling to and from the beach carry a degree of risk both to people and property, even if enjoyed under proper supervision by qualified instructors.


Freedom Surf School: Bilingual Adventure Education Centre Surf School does not seek to limit or exclude any liability for personal injury or loss of life which may occur as a result of its own negligence or that of its employees, officers or agents, however, Freedom Surf School assumes no liability in respect of any personal injury, loss, damage, consequential loss or third party claims which occur through no fault of its own, its employees, officers or agents. All other liability or conditions implied by law are excluded to the fullest extent possible.


Participants will have the use of our equipment during their activity times only. While we take all reasonable measures to ensure the safety and good condition of that equipment, participants are responsible for immediately reporting any damage caused to the equipment or which becomes apparent whilst the equipment is in their possession.

4.2 Accommodation

Any accommodation listed on our website is purely a guide. Freedom Surf School does not make any claims to the standard of the accommodation, nor accepts any responsibility for problems that arise during their stay, from the accommodation listed on the website or during an overnight stay. 

During an overnight stay Teachers / group leaders are responsible for the conduct and safety of group members while using recommended accommodation.

We are not responsible for any accident/ incident that occurs while using overnight accommodation. 

Special Dietary requests must be made 1 week in advance. 

4.3 Theft/Lost Property

We accept no liability for damaged or stolen property, damage to personal luggage, property left behind at the beach or on any Freedom Surf School: Bilingual Adventure Education Centre Surf School property.

4.4 Jurisdiction

These conditions form a contract between us which will be construed in accordance with Irish Law and it is agreed between us that each will submit to the jurisdiction of the Irish Courts.

4.5 Making a Complaint

All complaints concerning Freedom Surf School should be sent to the manager via email within seven days using info@freedomsurfschool.com


As an Irish Surfing registered surf school, we are committed to effectively, efficiently, promptly and fairly handling all complaints about our services or products.

5 Reservation of Rights

Freedom Surf  School reserves the right to cancel or postpone an activity due to weather/surf conditions or any unforeseen circumstances and will make every effort to reschedule another suitable activity on the day or we may reschedule to another date for the benefit of the customer or client.


In the event of cancellation taking place less than 48 hours before the booking, we reserve the right to impose cancellation charges up to the original price of the activity booking.
